Reading Classics
A habit of reading Classics has been developed lately. A post-Pride&Prejudice-sydrome I presume? =)
Check out the 4 newbies in my personal library!
Jane Eyre (gosh till now I still couldn't figure out how to pronounce this word!
"eye", "aye", "air", "er", or what? Anyone care to enlighten me? haha. So far the most credible version is
"air") by
Charlotte Bronte. It is definitely no coincidence that people often associate Charlotte Bronte with Emily Bronte and Anne Bronte. The 3 Brontes are the "Song Sisters" (as in the Chinese history and politics) in the Literature arena.
This book is my current read, together with 1984 by George Orwell. Why such a combination? Ask me not. Haha pure coincidence I could say.
Oh, speaking of 1984, if not for its fame and celebrated acclaims, I would have never lay my hands on it, for it is so.... dark and deep.... something which I do not believe to be "strikingly similar" to our current situation. Call me naive all you want, but I believe that the world is a much better place than the Orwell, who was also well-known for his pessimism, had portrayed.
Sorry to have digressed. Okay back to the Brontes.
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, one of the 2 younger sisters of Charlotte Bronte.
This is one of the literature books recommanded to me by my favourite GP tutor Miss Gillian Lee. I've got the book from Kinokuniya yesterday, with the exact hard cover shown in the above picture. Isn't it pretty? =D
But.....
S$38.74
Ouch.
Haha I guess books are the only things that I can indulge myself in spending without a second thought.
This book is still wrapped in very good condition, I shall start chewing it after I'm done with what I have in hands.

Sense and Sensibility by my favourite author Jane Austen! It was her first published book. =)
I have been searching high and low for the version published by Oneworld Publication, which comes in a classy, elegant and yet simple cover as well as extra reading materials associated with the author and text. However, in vain i managed to get a clean and wrapped one.
So I bought the one in the picture from JP Harris. =)

Another fabulous creation by
Jane Austen, known to be her funniest novel too.
Two thumbs up for its price too! $5.98! =D
Woot~ I;m feeling so intellectual now! Haha.
It feels great to be in possession of many many great books, which is a task I undertake to be fulfilled with the keenest enthusiasm using the remaining year of my short life. x)
